"Mine Now" : Women wearing menswear during PFW

For the last couple decades, women have been taking back clothing that was traditionally seen as male. Jeans, dress pants, and blazers have slowly been making their way into women’s closets. But this year fashion icons seemed to have dived headfirst into tackling the suit and making it their own.

This take on the suit abandons the idea that the suit must be inherently masculine, intimidating, and boring. Bright colors like bright blue and yellow soften the look while embroidery and fun patterns make the outfit more intricate. Fabric can also be the center of the piece. The velvet of the Redemption suit dress is as glamorous as old Hollywood but the beadwork on Lupita Nyong'os blazer is fun and exciting. Each piece looks like a work of art.

If you want to try out the suit, go for a monochromatic set, blue with blue, yellow with yellow, etc. It makes you look more put together. When choosing accents, pick something that represents your personality. Do you want a more intricate statement piece? Or an “I’m the Boss” classic work outfit. Or get both.
